Day Four — Discipline Rooted in Devotion
“Rather, train yourself in godliness.”
— 1 Timothy 4:7 (CSB)
Discipline is often misunderstood as restriction or punishment. But biblical discipline is rooted in training — purposeful, patient preparation for growth.
Discipline shaped by punishment says, “I need to fix myself.”
Discipline shaped by devotion says, “I want to honor God.”
When discipline flows from devotion, it supports us rather than controls us. It creates rhythms instead of rigid rules. It allows grace for hard days and consistency over time.
God is not asking you to force change. He is inviting you to cultivate habits that sustain life and faithfulness.
Today, reflect on how you view discipline. Ask God to reshape it into something that serves growth rather than shame.
Reflection
How do I currently view discipline?
What would devotion-shaped discipline look like for me?
Prayer
God, let discipline in my life be shaped by love and devotion, not pressure. Amen.
