An Undivided Heart
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.”
— Ezekiel 36:26 (CSB)
There are seasons when our hearts feel divided.
Part of us wants to trust God fully.
Part of us is still holding onto fear, control, or old patterns that once helped us survive.
A divided heart isn’t a sign of failure — it’s a sign of being human.
We often assume that God is waiting for us to get our hearts together before He works. But Scripture tells a different story. God doesn’t ask us to fix our hearts — He offers to renew them.
When God speaks of giving us a new heart, He isn’t talking about erasing our story. He’s talking about healing what’s been hardened, softening what’s been guarded, and restoring what’s been wounded.
An undivided heart isn’t a perfect heart.
It’s a surrendered one.
It’s a heart that says, “Lord, I don’t fully understand what’s happening inside me, but I trust You with it.”
It’s a heart that stops striving and starts yielding.
God is not intimidated by the parts of your heart that feel messy or unresolved. He meets you there — gently, patiently, and with compassion.
Today, you don’t have to force your heart into alignment.
Simply offer it to Him — honestly and completely.
Because when the heart is surrendered,
transformation begins —
from the inside out.
Reflection
Are there areas of your heart you’ve been holding back from God?
What fears or habits might be competing for space in your heart?
What would surrender look like in this season?
Prayer
Father,
I bring You my heart just as it is — divided, guarded, and hopeful all at once.
Soften what has grown hard.
Heal what has been wounded.
Unite my heart to trust You fully.
I surrender what I’ve been holding onto,
and I trust You to do Your work in me.
Amen.
