DAY 1 — Fruit Grows From Connection, Not Effort
Scripture: John 15:5
So many of us have been taught—directly or indirectly—that spiritual growth comes from trying harder. We push ourselves to pray more consistently, to respond better, to be more patient, more faithful, more “put together.” And when we fall short, we assume we must not be growing at all.
But Jesus never describes growth that way.
He tells us plainly that fruit comes from remaining, not striving. A branch does not wake up each day determined to produce fruit. It simply stays connected to the vine, and life flows naturally. The fruit is a result, not a requirement.
When we remain in Christ—when we stay near Him, trust Him, and depend on Him—His life begins to shape us quietly and steadily. Change happens not because we force it, but because His presence transforms us from the inside out.
If you’re tired from striving, Jesus is inviting you back to connection. Growth was never meant to exhaust you.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me rest in connection with You instead of striving for growth.
Remain Practice:
Pause today and whisper, “I choose connection over effort.”
