July Week 4: Reflections

July Week 4 Reflection: Spiritual Foundations

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

When I first read this week's Scriptures, I saw six individual passages about God's Word, wisdom, prayer, trust, and faith. But the more I sat with them, the more I realized they weren't separate ideas—they were all connected.

Faith is where our journey begins.

It is faith that leads us to open God's Word and meditate on it. Faith causes us to ask God for wisdom when we don't know what to do. Faith encourages us to bring our worries to Him in prayer instead of carrying them alone. Faith gives us the courage to trust His direction, even when we can't see the whole path ahead.

But something beautiful happens as we continue practicing these spiritual disciplines. The very things our faith leads us to do begin strengthening the faith that started the journey. Every time we spend time in Scripture, seek God's wisdom, pray, or choose to trust Him, our relationship with Him grows deeper. Layer by layer, He continues building a stronger spiritual foundation within us.

Our faith isn't meant to remain where it first began. God uses His Word and our daily walk with Him to shape us, mature us, and make us more firmly rooted in Christ.

As you finish this week's readings, remember that spiritual growth isn't about checking off a list of disciplines. It's about growing in your relationship with the One those disciplines continually point us toward. As our faith leads us closer to Him, He faithfully strengthens that faith for the journey ahead.
