August week 3 reflection
Week 3 Reflection – Forgive Others as God Has Forgiven Us
Scripture: Ephesians 4:32 (NLT)
"Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you."
Grace is one of God's greatest gifts. We receive it freely, yet one of the hardest parts of living in grace is extending that same grace to others. Forgiveness is rarely easy. Sometimes the wounds run deep, the words still echo in our minds, and the hurt feels too heavy to release.
Yet Paul reminds us that our standard for forgiveness is not based on whether someone deserves it. It is based on what Christ has already done for us.
Before we knew Him, God chose to forgive us through Jesus. He didn't wait until we had everything together or until we earned His mercy. His forgiveness flowed from His love and His grace.
When we remember how much we have been forgiven, our perspective begins to change. Forgiveness doesn't mean pretending the hurt never happened or allowing someone to continue causing harm. It means placing the offense into God's hands instead of carrying the burden ourselves.
Forgiveness isn't about excusing the offense; it's about trusting God to handle what we were never meant to carry.
As we forgive, we make room for God's peace to heal the places that bitterness could never restore.
Living in grace means choosing kindness over resentment, compassion over retaliation, and mercy over keeping score. Every act of forgiveness reflects the heart of the One who first forgave us.

Verses this week
Ephesians 4:32
Colossians 3:12-13
Matthew 6:14-15
Luke 6:35-36
Romans 12:10
1 Peter 4:8-10
As you reviewed this week's verses about extending grace, is there someone you've been holding unforgiveness toward? Ask the Lord to help you see that person through His eyes. As you remember the grace you've received, ask Him to give you the strength to extend that same grace to others.
