True Faith Trusts.
Faith, in it’s truest form, trusts that God’s purposes are greater than our limited understanding.
In Mark 9, we encounter a moving scene: a desperate father, standing in a crowd, pleads with Jesus to deliver his son from the torment of an evil spirit.
Jesus’ reply is striking: “‘If You can?’ … Everything is possible for the one who believes” (Mark 9:23). Immediately, the father responds with both honesty and vulnerability: “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (v. 24).
This exchange highlights a tension many of us know well—holding faith and doubt at the very same time. What matters is how we bring that tension to Jesus. The father didn’t hide his struggle; he confessed it. And Jesus met him right there, turning his fragile faith into the doorway for a miracle.
Notice the contrast: our “if” meets Jesus’ “anything.” His ability is never the issue; the question is whether we trust Him enough to lean on His power. Faith isn’t about being free from every doubt—it’s about choosing to place our confidence in Him despite the questions that remain.
Belief is the foundation of knowing Christ. Without it, we can’t step into relationship with Him. But even imperfect, mustard-seed faith is enough for God to move. When we offer Him the belief we do have—mixed with confession of the doubt we feel—He proves that with Him, anything truly is possible.
What are you doubting God about? Exercise your faith today and trust that He truly can do what only He can do.
