Allowing Him to love us through Worship & Word
WORD. It’s more than just a book.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
When many people think of the Bible, they see it as a history book, a rule book, or even just a collection of stories. But for those who belong to Christ, God’s Word is so much more—it is a love letter from the Father to His children.
A love letter is personal. It speaks directly to the heart of the one receiving it. That’s how God designed His Word—personal, alive, and intimate. Through every page, He is whispering: “I love you. I chose you. I have a plan for you. You belong to Me.”
In Song of Solomon, His love letter tells us, ““I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.”
Isaiah 43:1 says, “But now, this is what the Lord, your Creator says, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you [from captivity]; I have called you by name; you are Mine!”
Ezekiel 20:37 He tells us, “and I will count you as Mine and constrain you] and bring you into the bond of the covenant [to which you are permanently bound].”
If we read Scripture only for knowledge, we might miss the heart of the Author. Knowledge is good, but transformation comes when we approach the Bible as God’s voice speaking His love, His promises, and His direction for our lives.
“You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place; carefully, skillfully you shaped me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book. Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O God, your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, you’re still with me.”
Psalms 139:13-18 TPT
Think about this: when someone you love deeply sends you a letter or message, you don’t skim it for facts. You linger over the words, reread them, and treasure them. That is how we are invited to approach God’s Word—not with obligation, but with anticipation, knowing the One who wrote it desires a relationship with us.
Allow Him to embrace you this morning... not just this morning, but every morning. Make an appointment with Him. Make ROOM for Him to enter your heart, He son desperately wants to. His heart ACHES for you every day that you don’t make time to sit in His presence and allow Him to embrace you, to speak to you, to love on you. As we meet with Him and envelop ourselves into His presence, we can then walk IN HIS LOVE towards others that day. That is why meeting Him in the morning is so important.
Psalm 5: 3 says, “In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice;
In the morning I will prepare [a prayer and a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].”
God hears our voices at any time of day, but in the morning, we can hear our hearts’ yearning before the distractions of a busy day loom. Speak up. Plead your case. Then watch and wait with the morning.
Psalm 143:8 says,
“Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For I trust in You.
Teach me the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You.”
Proverbs 4:18 says, “But the path of the just (righteous) is like the light of dawn,
That shines brighter and brighter until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day.”
Ecclesiastes 11:6 says, “Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle with your hands in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening planting will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both alike will be good.”
Our most creative times are in the morning. In the stillness of the mornings, before the chaos enters my day, before I hear the voice of ANYONE, I NEED to hear the voice of my Father. That is where He speaks to me the most... that is when I get my most productive thoughts maneuvering, because He is anointing those thoughts with HIS OIL so they are blessed and highly favored, and so that they will succeed.
Even if it’s ONE verse that the Lord speaks to you, GRASP IT. EVERY WORD OF THAT VERSE, GRASP IT. Take hold of it and implant it into your heart. Let it PERMEATE your soul until you can FEEL God’s embrace with that verse. Trust me, He WILL DO IT, if you allow Him to. You have to let Him enter into that personal, intimate place with you. THAT is where He embraces us. In that intimate, private place, early in the morning. Before anyone else has had a chance to speak ANYTHING else into you, good or bad, NO ONE’s voice is more important than the voice of your Father.
Doing this in the morning, also gives us a scripture to hang onto all day long. We can come to His word, daily, with great expectation and intentionally looking for a verse for the day from our Father. We may read many verses in a reading in the morning, but when we come across that one that leaps off the page and speaks directly to us, that’s that word, that verse, that you know if your word for the day from your Father. Come intentionally into His presence expecting that of Him, and He will give it to you.
Proverbs 8:18 He tells us: “
“I love those who love me; And those who seek me early and diligently will find me.”
HE WILL MEET YOU THERE.
This is also why we worship before we meet with Him. These songs, this music, opens the doorways to heaven and allows His presence into the atmosphere f your heart, which is His home. It sets the atmosphere to a placed of expectation. Expecting Him to dance with you, to hold you, to speak to you, to embrace you. That’s what He’s waiting on... to embrace you... FULLY. To FULLY EMBRACE you.
WORSHIP. It’s more than just a song.
Many people think of worship only as what we bring to God—our songs, prayers, offerings, or service. But true worship is also about what we receive. When we open our hearts in worship, we are making room for God to pour His love into us. Worship is not only a response to His love—it’s the space where His love meets us, fills us, and changes us.
Worship is an Encounter with God’s Presence
“But you shall seek the Lord at the place which the Lord your God will choose out of all your tribes to establish His [b]Name there for His dwelling [place], and there you shall come [to worship Him]. “ - Deuteronomy 12:5
When we worship, God draws near, and IN US is His dwelling place
His presence is not distant or cold—it is personal, relational, and full of love.
Worship is where God meets us to remind us of His nearness.
Worship is Receiving God’s Love
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will exult over you with loud singing.” — Zephaniah 3:17
In worship, God is not only listening to us—He is singing over us.
He delights in His children and uses worship as a way to reassure us of His love.
Worship is where we rest and let God pour His affection into our hearts.
What does it mean to you that God sings over you?
Why do you think we sometimes resist receiving God’s love in worship?
Worship is Allowing God to Heal and Restore Us
He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds [healing their pain and comforting their sorrow]. — Psalm 147:3
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. — Matthew 11:28
Worship is not just about offering our strength—it’s about bringing our weakness.
In His presence, He binds wounds, lifts burdens, and restores weary hearts.
Worship is surrender that makes room for God’s healing love.
Have you ever experienced healing or peace during worship?
What burdens do you need to release to God in worship right now?
Worship is Resting in God’s Love Forever
“See what an incredible quality of love the Father has shown to us, that we would [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” — 1 John 3:1
“We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.” — 1 John 4:16
Worship is not a transaction—it’s relationship.
In worship, we are not performing for God; we are resting in His love.
Eternity will be filled with worship, not because God demands it, but because we will live forever in His love.
Together, worship and the Word work hand in hand. In worship, we open our hearts to God’s presence; in the Word, we hear His voice of love. Both are invitations to intimacy with Him—reminding us that Christianity is not about empty rituals, but about a relationship with the One who delights in us.
When we worship with the Word as our guide, we aren’t just singing songs or reading pages; we are responding to God’s love and letting Him pour it into our lives. Worship becomes the echo of His love letter, and His Word becomes the song that fuels our worship.
Reflection Questions:
When you open your Bible, do you approach it with your head only, or with your heart as well?
How might your time in Scripture change if you read it as a love letter from God to you?
What verse has reminded you most of God’s personal love lately?
How does seeing worship as resting in God’s love change your perspective?
In what ways can you begin to let worship be a time of receiving as much as giving?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me Your Word—not just as instructions, but as an expression of Your love. Help me to see every verse as part of Your personal letter to me. Teach me to delight in Your Word, to treasure it, and to let it draw me closer to You. Father, thank You that worship is not just about me giving to You, but also about me receiving from You. Teach me to rest in Your love, to hear You singing over me, and to let Your presence heal and restore me. May my worship be a two-way relationship, where I glorify You and also allow You to love on me. Amen.
Today, when you open your Bible, pause first. Whisper, “Lord, show me Your love in these words.” Then read slowly, letting His voice speak to your heart. Let Him FULLY EMBRACE you.
