Small Moments Matter

Scripture: Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Most of us imagine spiritual life as something that happens in big moments — retreats, breakthroughs, deep worship times, long quiet mornings. But abiding happens primarily in the small moments. The everyday moments. The unnoticed pauses where you create just enough space for God to breathe peace into your spirit.

God is not limited to the long, slow mornings. He moves in the 30 seconds before you walk into a meeting. The 10 seconds before you respond to a hurtful message. The 1-minute pause you take after your emotions spike. The quiet moment in the car before you pull out of the driveway.

Stillness doesn’t mean you stop your life. It means you interrupt your anxious rhythm. Stillness is the soul’s way of turning toward God in the middle of the noise. God meets us in those small, intentional pauses — and each one roots us a little deeper into the Vine.

Spiritual growth is not about quantity of time; it’s about quality of attention. A heart that turns toward God in the small moments is a heart that learns to abide all day long.

Prayer:

Lord, help me find You in the quiet seconds, not just the long minutes. Teach me to pause and acknowledge You in the middle of my day.

Abide Practice:

Set a reminder on your phone to pause once today for one minute of silence with God.
