Nothing Wavering
Read: James 1:6
“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering…
”
Wavering is internal instability. It is trust that shifts depending on conditions.
It sounds like:
“I trust You… but what if this falls apart?”
“I believe You… but maybe I should secure this myself.
”
“I surrender… unless this costs too much.
”
James compares wavering to a wave — driven and tossed. A wave has no anchor. It is
governed by external forces.
Some believers are governed by:
Circumstances.
Opinions.
Affirmation.
Fear.
Delay.
If things go well, they feel secure. If things go poorly, they unravel. That is not lack of faith. It is
unsettled faith.
Settled faith does not mean you feel calm all the time. It means your decision to trust remains
consistent.
Anchored faith says:
“I don’t understand everything… but I am not divided.
”
And that steadiness builds spiritual muscle.
Reflection
Where does my faith fluctuate most — waiting, finances, health, conflict?
What triggers wavering in me?Prayer
Father, root my trust deeper than my emotions. Make my faith settled, not shifting.
