DAY 4 — Staying Soft During Pruning

“The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.”

— Psalm 34:18 (CSB)

Pruning seasons can harden us if we aren’t careful. Pain has a way of building walls. Disappointment can cause us to withdraw. Loss can make us guarded.

But remaining in Christ during pruning means choosing softness over self-protection.

God does not expect you to enjoy the pruning. He does not ask you to pretend you’re okay. He simply invites you to stay open—to bring your grief, confusion, anger, and questions into His presence instead of pulling away.

A soft heart stays connected.

A soft heart remains teachable.

A soft heart allows healing to reach deep places.

Remaining does not mean ignoring pain. It means refusing to let pain disconnect you from the Vine.

Prayer

Lord, guard my heart from becoming hard. Help me stay open to You even when this season hurts.

Remain Practice

Name one emotion you’ve been holding back from God and speak it honestly to Him today.
