DAY 2 — Pruning Is Not Proof of Failure

“Every branch in Me that produces fruit He prunes…”

— John 15:2 (CSB)

One of the quiet lies we often believe during pruning seasons is that something must be wrong with us. We replay decisions. We question obedience. We wonder if we missed God or failed somewhere along the way.

But Jesus is very clear: the branches that are pruned are the ones already producing fruit.

Pruning is not God’s response to failure—it is His response to growth.

God does not prune dead branches. He removes dead weight from living ones. He is not correcting you; He is cultivating you. Pruning is God saying, “There is more life ahead, and I am preparing you for it.”

When something ends or changes, it does not automatically mean you did something wrong. It may mean God is protecting the future fruit He sees forming in you.

Release the shame.

Release the self-blame.

God is not disappointed in you—He is invested in you.

Prayer

Lord, remove any shame or self-blame from my heart. Help me see this season through Your truth, not my fear.

Remain Practice

Write down one thing you’ve labeled as “failure” and ask God to show you how He may be using it for growth.
