Seek, Seek, Seek…

“Gather yourselves together [in repentance], yes, gather [in submission], O nation without shame, Before the decree takes effect [and the time for repentance is lost]— The day passes like the chaff [whirled by the wind]— Before the burning and fierce anger of the Lord comes upon you, Before the day of the wrath of the Lord comes upon you.

Seek the Lord [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], All you humble of the land Who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital]. Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] In the day of the Lord’s anger.” - ‭‭Zephaniah‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

These verses are a sobering yet hope-filled reminder. God calls us to make Him our highest pursuit—the foremost necessity of our lives. Not one option among many, but the very source of our survival and strength.

Notice the three pursuits listed: seeking the Lord, seeking righteousness, and seeking humility. Each one is tied to our posture before God.

1. Seek the Lord – Diligently chase after Him as life itself.

2. Seek righteousness – Align your actions and choices with His Word.

3. Seek humility – Walk in lowliness, knowing all you have and are comes from Him.

The promise tucked in this verse is profound: “perhaps you will be hidden.” It speaks of God’s protection, His covering hand in times of judgment, chaos, or trial. While the world may tremble, those who hide themselves in Him are safe. This isn’t about avoiding hardship, but about being preserved in the midst of it.

Ask yourself today: Am I truly seeking Him as the foremost necessity of my life? Or is He somewhere down the list of my daily priorities? To seek God is to hunger for Him, to reorder your time, desires, and choices around His presence.

The “hidden place” is not found in fear—it’s found in pursuit. As you seek the Lord, He becomes your refuge and safe dwelling.

When you seek God with humility and righteousness, you don’t just survive the storms—you are hidden in His sheltering love.

Pray: Lord, I choose today to seek You above all else. Teach me to walk in righteousness and clothe me with humility. Hide me under the shadow of Your wings and keep me safe in Your presence. May I never take lightly the call to seek You as my greatest necessity. Amen.
