A Sobering Reminder of Grace Misused

“For if we go on willfully and deliberately sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice [to atone] for our sins [that is, no further offering to anticipate], but a kind of awful and terrifying expectation of [divine] judgment and the fury of a fire and burning wrath which will consume the adversaries [those who put themselves in opposition to God]. [Is 26:11] Anyone who has ignored and set aside the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. [Deut 17:2-6] How much greater punishment do you think he will deserve who has rejected and trampled under foot the Son of God, and has considered unclean and common the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and has insulted the Spirit of grace [who imparts the unmerited favor and blessing of God]? [Ex 24:8]”
‭— Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭26‬-‭29‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This isn’t a verse meant to condemn — it’s a divine wake-up call. It reminds us that grace is not a license to sin, but an invitation to transformation.

When we’ve encountered the truth of Jesus, when we’ve tasted His mercy, and still choose rebellion over repentance, we aren’t just making a mistake — we’re rejecting the very blood that bought our freedom.

Grace is costly. It was paid for with the life of Christ.

And while God is endlessly merciful, His holiness still demands reverence.

To willfully live in sin after knowing the truth is to trample on that mercy — to treat as common what is sacred.

But here’s the good news: as long as there’s breath in your lungs, repentance is still possible.

God’s arms remain open — not for those who pretend perfection, but for those humble enough to say, “Lord, I’ve strayed… bring me back.”

Let this scripture stir a holy fear, not of punishment, but of living one more day apart from the One who gave everything for you.

Now is the time to return to Him fully — heart, mind, and soul.

Don’t insult the Spirit of grace… honor Him with a life surrendered.
