Prayer Before Reading God’s Word

Heavenly Father,
I come before You with a humble heart, ready to receive from Your living Word. As I open the pages of Scripture, I ask that You would impart spiritual wisdom and understanding so that I may grow to know You more deeply.

Holy Spirit, bring revelation to the truths You desire for me to see. Let Your Word pierce through distraction and doubt, teaching me, correcting me, and transforming me into a vessel fit for Your use.

As I read, remind me that it is through Your Word that I learn what it means to follow Jesus—to walk in obedience, to love in truth, and to live a life that glorifies You.
Illuminate my mind, Lord, that I may gain insight, wisdom, and instruction for every step I take. Order my steps according to Your will, that all I do would bring honor to Your name.

Let Your Word be the compass that guides my path, the mirror that reveals my heart, and the fire that purifies my soul. Help me to treasure it more than my daily bread—to hunger for it, to meditate on it, and to live by it.

Father, open my eyes to behold the beauty and power hidden within Your Scriptures. Give me endurance to remain steadfast, even when the lessons are hard or the truth cuts deep. Let conviction become transformation, and revelation become obedience.

Grant me discernment to rightly divide Your Word and revelation to understand Your will. May every verse I read draw me closer to You, shaping me into the likeness of Christ and filling me with the life that flows only from Your Spirit.

I thank You that Your Word is living, active, and eternal—that it lights my path and strengthens my soul.
Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.

In the mighty name of Jesus I pray,
Amen.
