When God Answers The Call

Emphasis

Prayer is more than asking God to move—it is responding when He does.

Attributes

  • God is faithful.

  • God is attentive.

  • God is gracious.

  • God leads His children.

  • God delights in our obedience.

Theme

God answers our prayers so we can walk with Him in obedience.

Have you ever had your phone ring, answered it with, “Hello,” and the person on the other end said, “I don’t need anything from you”? No… me neither. I’ve had people tell me they had the wrong number or that they called by accident, but never has someone called simply to tell me they didn’t need anything from me. The one making the call is usually the one who needs something.

That’s what made me think about prayer.

When we pray, we are the ones calling on God. We call because we need His wisdom, His strength, His peace, His direction, and His grace. God invites us to do exactly that.

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” — Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)

What amazes me is that God never gets tired of hearing from His children. He answers—not always in the way we expect, but always according to His perfect wisdom. Sometimes His answer is comfort. Sometimes it is to correct. Sometimes it is a closed door, and sometimes it is an open one. But almost every answer comes with an invitation to trust Him through obedience.

Too often we treat prayer as the finish line. We ask, God answers, and we move on. But prayer is really the beginning of the journey. After God answers, He begins to lead. He says, “Forgive.” “Go.” “Wait.” “Speak.” “Trust Me.” Our response shouldn’t simply be gratitude for what He has done, but surrender to what He is asking us to do next.

Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15, KJV). Obedience isn’t how we earn God’s love; it is how we demonstrate that we trust Him. Faith has always been more than believing. Faith walks. Faith follows. Faith obeys.

So, girl, lace up your walking shoes. If you’ve called on God and He has answered, don’t stop at receiving the blessing. Follow His lead. The God who invited you to call on Him is the same God who promises to walk with you every step of the way. He isn’t looking for perfect people. He’s looking for surrendered hearts that are willing to say, “Here I am, Lord.”

Personal Reflection

Have I been asking God for answers while resisting His direction? True faith isn’t finished when God speaks—it begins when I obey.

Prayer

Father, thank You for always hearing me when I call. Give me a heart that not only seeks Your answers but also follows Your direction. Teach me to trust You enough to obey, one step at a time. Let my life reflect my faith in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
